We were honored to sponsor the 2nd World Conference on eXplainable Artificial Intelligence alongside our coordinator, CeADAR Ireland, in Valletta, Malta on July 17th-19th, 2024!

The World Conference on Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) is an annual event that gathers researchers, academics, and industry professionals to discuss innovations and perspectives in XAI. This multidisciplinary conference brings together experts from fields such as Computer Science, Psychology, Philosophy, and Social Science, as well as industry leaders interested in the ethical and practical implications of AI model explanations.

In particular, AI has seen a significant shift in focus towards designing and developing intelligent systems that are interpretable and explainable. This is due to the complexity of the induced model from data and the legal requirement imposed by various national and international parliaments. Consequently, this has echoed in the research literature and the press, attracting scholars worldwide and a lay audience. The xAI can help solve some of the problems of AI, as highlighted in the Regulation of the European Parliament and The Council (AI ACT), laying down harmonised rules on Artificial Intelligence and amending certain union legislative acts.

Xpression: A unifying metric to evaluate Explainability and Compression of AI models” was the topic that we discussed at the XAI conference.

Many thanks to our coordinator CeADAR Ireland and its team, Eric Arazo Sánchez, Hristo Stoev, Cristian Bosch, Andrés L. Suárez-Cetrulo, PhD and Ricardo Simon Carbajo for presenting the MANOLO project and sharing insights on the practical, social, and ethical aspects of explaining AI models.
